We aim to provide a strong,
warm, caring, family atmosphere, 'a second home' where each child is treated
as an individual and is encouraged to develop according to his / her potential.
In a school family such as ours rules are essential to keep children safe.
We value courtesy and good manners very highly and have an extremely positive
attitude towards good discipline. Emphasis is placed on the development of:
-Self
discipline
-Self motivation
-Responsibility
-Caring and sharing
-Good relationships
-Respect
-Tolerance
It is the policy of the
school to contact parents where there is a concern about the behaviour or
academic progress of a child.
The emphasis in the school is to praise and celebrate positive behaviour,
attitude and effort to increase children's awareness of the need to make a
positive contribution to their community.
We will strive to create
a positive climate in which pupils self esteem is nurtured and encouraged.
Everyone, adults, children and parents will work together to foster good behaviour
so that effective learning and teaching can take place and to ensure that
everyone remains safe. Inappropriate behaviour will be addressed followed
by a reminder of the rules or a 'handy hint' of what to do next time they
find themselves in a similar situation. Good behaviour is the combination
of a successful partnership between home and school where standards should
complement each other.
This aim can only be achieved
by supporting
THE GREENFIELD CODE which was agreed between staff and pupils.
AT
GREENFIELD SCHOOL:
-We do our best to be helpful, friendly, co-operative
and kind.
-We work with enthusiasm, determination, and confidence.
-We treat all people and property with respect.
The school operates a
positive behaviour policy (a copy is available upon request) whereby we agree
standards of behaviour with the children, who then know what is and isn't
allowed in school. Each class design their own reward systems and targets
which we are pleased to say are achieved frequently. Balanced with a clearly
defined system of rewards are equally clearly defined systems of sanctions
which are used to encourage an agreed level of minimum accepted standards.
These include a very clear and systematic 5 warning system with each warning
having its own sanction. If a child receives 5 warnings during the same day
then parents will receive a courtesy call to make them aware of their child's
behaviour.
Anti
bullying
Our school has an anti bullying policy which dictates what pupils should
do if they feel they are being bullied at school. This is regularly reviewed
with the pupils who have a large voice in directing this school policy.
We feel that this is essential information for maintaining the security
and safety of our pupils. The few bullying incidents that we have are
taken seriously and all incidents are investigated and recorded. We ask
that parents inform the school immediately if they suspect their child
either to be a victim or perpetrator of bullying. Although all staff are
available to listen and deal with concerns, the 'Dream Team' comprising
of two members of staff are readily available to pupils in school.
